The Citrine.

A villa for the few. A weekend for the rest of your life.

▶ Press play (2:14)

In the foothills of the Sahyadris, on the shoulder of a river older than the country, a single villa.

Seven suites. One staff for every guest. A kitchen that grows its own.

An address. Not a brand.

— A FILM IN THREE ACTS —
— ACT ONE

Arrival.

The road climbs for thirteen minutes. The reception is a verandah and a glass of cold rosella. The check-in form is your handwriting, on paper, with a Lamy fountain pen kept warm in the drawer.

Arrival
— ACT TWO

Two days, two meals,
two nothings.

The chef will ask what your body wants today. The bath will be drawn before you've thought to ask. The library will know you're a Murakami person before lunch ends. You will be unreachable, and you will read again.

Stay
— ACT THREE

Departure.

You will leave at the time the river says. A driver who has been with us for nineteen years will close the door behind you. We will not ask you to share The Citrine. The ones who need to know will be told by you, in person, in confidence.

— A REVIEW WE DID NOT ASK FOR —
"You don't visit The Citrine. You are summoned, and you arrive, and afterward you remember it the way a person remembers a film they were not ready to see."
