For seventeen winters, Solène has worked with one weaver, two dyers, and a small studio in Kanazawa. Every piece is the conversation of four hands and three months.

The Cloth

Hand-loomed in Ehime on antique cypress shuttles. Each metre carries the slight inconsistency of a human hand.

The Dye

Plant indigo, persimmon tannin, walnut. The colour deepens for eighteen months before it stops moving.

The Cut

Each piece sized to a measure, not a chart. The result fits the body that owns it — and only that body.

On the long pause.

We do not believe in seasons. We do not believe in collections. We believe in a piece, finished when it is finished, ready when it is ready.

For our last release, the shipment was delayed by eleven months. A flood in the Tokushima studio, a quiet death in the indigo family, a single dyer reading less and walking more. We do not apologise for the wait. We are grateful for it.

This winter we release nine pieces. Each photographed once, in daylight, against a wall of cypress. Each priced by the months it took. Each numbered.
